Overwhelm
Changing lifelong, taught habits is far from easy. I, for a long time, researched what was involved in changing my lifestyle which lead me to MANY recommendations and I quickly became overwhelmed and would almost always throw it all in the too-hard basket and give up. Like with most things I do, it was a long time before I realised that I had to start somewhere, start small and create habits that suited me and would stick before I could move onto the next big thing. Whether you want to change just your use of plastic for the sake of the environment, or the use of toxins in your home and on your body for the sake of yours and your families health, I’d recommend starting with just one thing until it becomes a mastered habit. Be it; remembering to take your reusable bags, cups or straws to the supermarket/cafe, or looking at all your products and asking yourself ‘do I really need all these?’ when one simple, cheap ingredient (you probably already have) can do it all and more (do a quick search on bicarb uses 😉). Just starting, and starting small is a HUGE step. I’m far from perfect but each day I try to better myself and I constantly remind myself that it’s okay to not be perfect, in fact we don’t need a handful of people doing it perfectly, but instead we need millions of people doing it imperfectly.
